About The Position

The behavioral health liaison (BHL) psychotherapist provides psychiatric assessment/evaluation for patients in the medical setting and/or hospital outpatient programs including, but not limited to, Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Programs. Based on the care setting, BHL psychotherapist develops, supports and carries out the treatment plan using psychosocial and therapeutic interventions individually and/or in a group, care coordination and other services as dictated by the treatment plan to address patients presenting psychiatric disorder and/or psychosocial issue. The BHL psychotherapist responds to consults by making appropriate clinical recommendations and providing behavioral health consult services as dictated by the treatment plan. Completes all written and electronic documentation following clinic protocol and state certification requirements. Participates in regularly scheduled clinical collaboration and/or clinical supervision with psychiatrists and clinic supervisor as required by state statute. Supports other behavioral health program needs and duties as assigned. May be required to travel between CHD sites to support program operations.

Requirements

  • 3,000 hours of post graduate clinical supervision
  • Care coordination for behavioral health patients
  • Master's degree in social work, counseling, educational psychology, or allied health profession from an accredited college or university
  • Masters degree in clinical mental or behavioral health discipline with clinic field placement/practicum
  • Specific clinical training in psychotherapy, psychiatric evaluation and assessment
  • Treatment for substance use disorders
  • Training in one or more specific modality of treatment (CBT, DBT, ACT etc.)
  • Current Wisconsin licensure as Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC)
  • Other disciplines will be considered with DSPS pre-approval.
