About The Position

Nexus Children’s Hospital is a specialized pediatric hospital dedicated to bridging medical and behavioral healthcare for children and adolescents with complex needs. Our Dallas campus includes 60 private patient rooms, specialized inpatient rehabilitation and neurobehavioral units, ICU step-down capabilities, rehabilitation gyms, and engaging indoor and outdoor activity spaces designed to support healing, growth, and long-term success. Our interdisciplinary teams provide compassionate, evidence-based care focused on improving outcomes for patients requiring medical, behavioral, and rehabilitative support in a safe and structured environment.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, Psychology, or related field required.
  • Current Texas licensure as an LPC, or LCSW required.
  • Current BLS certification required.
  • All licenses and certifications must remain active and in good standing throughout employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing, implementing, and monitoring behavioral intervention programs preferred.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in an inpatient hospital, rehabilitation, or behavioral health setting preferred.
  • Compassionate, collaborative, and clinically strong with experience supporting adolescents with complex psychiatric, behavioral, and medical needs in an inpatient environment.
  • Thrive in a multidisciplinary setting and demonstrate strong communication, crisis intervention, and therapeutic relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, monitors, and documents individualized mental health treatment goals and objectives as part of interdisciplinary treatment planning.
  • Provides evidence-based individual, group, milieu, and family psychotherapy interventions in accordance with each patient’s treatment plan.
  • Coordinates and schedules weekly individual therapy sessions and family sessions unless otherwise indicated by the treatment team.
  • Works collaboratively with the Program Director to establish caseload expectations and group therapy coverage schedules.
  • Maintains timely, accurate, and compliant clinical documentation for all patient encounters and interventions.
  • Provides psychoeducation, de-escalation support, and behavioral management strategies to interdisciplinary staff members.
  • Participates in interdisciplinary treatment team meetings and patient care conferences.
  • Conducts ongoing behavioral and psychosocial assessments to identify barriers impacting medical or rehabilitation progress.
  • Collaborates with the interdisciplinary team to ensure continuity and effectiveness of behavioral and clinical interventions.
  • Communicates treatment updates, behavioral concerns, patient progress, and recommendations to the Program Director and Program Medical Director.
  • Assists with discharge planning and transition coordination to the next appropriate level of care.
  • Maintains professionalism when interacting with patients, families, physicians, staff, and external partners.
  • Remains current on evidence-based behavioral health practices, treatment modalities, and inpatient psychiatric care trends.
  • Participates in program development and quality improvement initiatives focused on treatment fidelity and patient outcomes.
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
