The Psychology Technician performs secretarial and technical duties supporting psychology services in a correctional institution. Under a psychologist’s supervision, the technician administers, mechanically or electronically scores, distributes, and stores psychological tests, including the Minnesota Multiphasic Personality Inventory (MMPI) and the Millon Clinical Multiaxial Inventory. The role also supports special projects, such as the Suicide Prevention Program, and handles scheduling, records, files, and other clerical duties. The position is responsible for implementing and operating the Bureau of Prisons’ Psychology Data System (PDS), including training psychology staff, entering and retrieving data, scoring tests electronically, and reconciling file discrepancies. The technician also prepares and distributes correspondence, forms, certificates, meeting materials, and reports for the Chief Psychologist. Like other correctional institution employees, the incumbent has recurring responsibility for institutional security, which takes precedence over other duties.
