About The Position

The University of New Hampshire (UNH) is seeking a Psychology Intern to provide counseling services to its students. This role involves individual and group counseling, intake and assessment, crisis intervention, learning disabilities assessment, and participation in outreach and consultation efforts. Demonstrated experience and proficiency in providing culturally competent care for individuals with diverse identities.

Responsibilities

Provide individual counseling services to UNH students with diagnoses ranging from depression and anxiety to relationship concerns, at an average rate of 15 clients per week.
Perform intake assessments, including complete assessment, diagnosis, and treatment disposition of students requesting Counseling Center services, for a minimum of 3 hours per week.
Provide crisis intervention and emergency coverage within the Counseling Center, including assessing, diagnosing, providing treatment disposition, and crisis management services to students requesting emergency service, for a minimum of four hours per week.
Facilitate therapy and support groups, such as Assertiveness, Anxiety, and International Student groups, serving a minimum of 50 students each year.
Engage in outreach and consultation efforts, including presenting 6 workshops per semester on topics like crisis management, PTSD, and Suicide Assessment, serving approximately 500 students.
Undertake year-long consultation projects such as 'Psychiatric Disabilities Education' and 'Mental Health Resources' for the UNH community.
Assess learning disabilities through clinical interviews and testing.
Meet with senior staff for individual and group supervision for a minimum total of 4 hours per week.
Attend staff case conference weekly.
Attend professional seminars with local professionals on resources available and areas of specialization.
Attend Intern Seminars, focusing on issues specific to the university population and the UNH Counseling Center.
Attend assessment seminars and supervision focusing on learning disabilities.
Attend consultation seminars and supervision focusing on outreach and consultation efforts.
Attend department staff meetings on a weekly basis.
Perform administrative responsibilities including maintaining appropriate clinical, outreach, and consultation records, committee membership, and special projects as assigned.
Provide culturally competent care for individuals with diverse identities.
