About The Position

This role involves teaching psychology courses, either synchronously or asynchronously, utilizing current technology. The instructor will be responsible for delivering instruction through various modalities including face-to-face, online, and video conferencing as needed. Key duties include adhering to a master syllabus, providing timely feedback and grading, maintaining communication with students, and participating in course assessment and improvement initiatives. The instructor must also complete required trainings and foster a positive, inclusive learning environment.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • Experience teaching psychology courses at the college level.
  • Proficiency in using learning management systems and other educational technologies.
  • Ability to teach effectively in online, hybrid, and face-to-face formats.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commitment to student success and inclusive pedagogy.

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology.
  • Experience with curriculum development.
  • Experience in assessment and accreditation processes.

Responsibilities

  • Teaches synchronous or asynchronous courses using current technology applicable to the discipline which may include face to face, online, and/or video-conferenced courses as needed.
  • Teaches contracted course following the master syllabus and course shell provided.
  • Meet all designated course instruction guidelines, including but not limited to, posting weekly announcements with relevant information, monitoring/participating in discussions, grading student coursework within one week of submission deadline, providing students timely and specific feedback, responding to student inquiries within 24 hours, maintaining weekly virtual office hours, and other requirements as established by the Department.
  • Submit mid-term and end of term grades by required deadline according to WNMU procedures.
  • Provides appropriate feedback to the WNMU main campus to improve the quality of course instruction.
  • Complete all trainings, assessments, and other documents as required by the School of Behavioral Sciences and WNMU and remain current with trends, techniques, and advances in distance learning.
  • Participates in assessment and reporting in accordance with department, and university policies/practices.
  • Maintains a positive, safe, inclusive student-centric learning environment that supports success by enforcing WNMU policies to include student code of conduct policies, and those established by the Behavioral Sciences department and Office of Academic Affairs.
  • Models professional standards and ethics in accordance with WNMU philosophy.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
