About The Position

The Department of Psychology at Southern Utah University invites ongoing applications for a part-time instructor pool to teach classes such as general psychology, personality theory, abnormal psychology, and other classes as needed from the catalog. This position is for an adjunct pool, and positions may or may not be immediately available. When openings occur, the department chair will utilize the adjunct pools to fill them. Applicants will only be contacted if an opening occurs and the department chair wishes to interview them. This position is contingent upon funding, and only adjuncts residing in Utah are eligible to apply. The pay is $900 per undergraduate credit.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in psychology or a closely related field (e.g., counseling).
  • Undergraduate teaching experience.
  • Reside in the state of Utah.
  • Submit a CV/Resume.
  • Submit unofficial copies of undergraduate and graduate transcripts.
  • Submit a brief teaching statement including evidence of previous teaching experience and a list of courses from the Psychology Department website that you feel qualified to teach (1-page maximum).
  • Submit names and contact information of three professional references.
  • Pass a background check.

Responsibilities

  • Provide educational instruction appropriate to the topic, course description, learning outcomes, and student audience.
  • Promote student success by creating an environment aligned to learning and student involvement.
  • Manage the learning environment through effective record-keeping, submitting grades and other reports on time, and enforcing school/campus academic, code of conduct, and attendance policies.
