About The Position

This position is housed in the Office of Evidence-Based Practice within the Continuous Quality Improvement and Consultation Unit. The work of this unit centers around supporting the Department by bringing evidence-based services and supports to the youth and families of Delaware. Duties include, but are not limited, researching evidence-based practices and assessment tools, assisting in the management of grants, collecting/analyzing data and creating reports, collaborating with other entities including community providers, providing training, performing clinical assessments, rendering consultation services, and serving on committees. This position may be eligible for part-time telework following a probationary period.

Requirements

  • Possession of a doctoral degree in psychology.
  • Possession of a Delaware Psychologist license or eligibility for a Delaware Psychologist license.
  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
  • As a condition of hire, if the applicant does not possess a Delaware Psychologist license, the applicant must agree as a requirement of employment to obtain a Delaware Psychologist license within 6 months.

Responsibilities

  • Selects, administers, scores and interprets a wide variety of psychological tests to measure and evaluate intelligence, achievement, personality, interests and other mental characteristics.
  • Interviews and observes individuals at play, in group interactions, or other situations to detect indications of mental deficiency, abnormal behavior, or maladjustment.
  • Communicates with public, private and state agencies, community service organizations, courts, schools, police and families in order to develop effective treatment strategies.
  • Analyzes information to assess individual problems.
  • Evaluates the relevance and importance of psychological theories, concepts and principles.
  • Identifies symptoms, makes diagnoses and develops approach to treatment.
  • Develops and implements treatment plans, evaluates effectiveness and adapts plans.
  • Engages individuals in assisting in the identification of their emotional problems and in the identification of a variety of interventions to assist in addressing these issues.
  • Provides psychotherapy and other various treatments to individuals, groups and/or families.
  • Conducts psychological practice according to the ethical standards of psychology.
  • Writes progress notes and reports regarding test interpretation, evaluation and individual progress.
