This position offers an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Psychologist, Ph.D. or Psy.D., contributing to direct neuropsychological and/or psychological services, supervising staff and trainees, and overseeing clinical responsibilities under the guidance of a Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree in Psychology (Ph.D. or Psy.D).
  • Current license as a Psychologist in New York State.
  • Completion of an APA-accredited psychology internship.
  • Completion of a relevant psychology postdoctoral fellowship/residency in health psychology, pediatric psychology, clinical psychology, rehabilitation psychology, or related field.
  • Must meet NYULH medical staff credentialing criteria for psychology core privileges.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with interdisciplinary providers (e.g., physiatry, PT, OT, speech-language pathology, neuropsychology).
  • Experience in evidence-based interventions for complex medical populations, including psychological evaluations and interventions for pain.
  • Prior clinical experience in rehabilitation psychology.
  • Prior experience working in an inpatient setting.
  • Postdoctoral fellowship in a related area of rehabilitation psychology.

Responsibilities

  • Provide evidence-based assessment, psychotherapeutic or behavioral interventions to patients and their families individually or in groups, focusing on patients with neurological conditions, complex medical histories, and various mental health needs such as depression, anxiety, chronic pain, and adjustment to illness or injury.
  • Offer case management services, school advocacy, and coordination of care with the medical team.
  • Ensure all clinical services adhere to federal, state, city, and national psychology regulatory standards.
  • Demonstrate continued proficiency in skills required to evaluate and treat assigned patient populations.
  • Function as a resource for other interdisciplinary team members, conferring with physicians and intra-disciplinary staff regarding patient care, and assisting staff in patient management.
  • Ensure accuracy in documentation and billing for psychological services rendered.
  • Provide supervisory oversight of psychology interns and fellows for psychological behavioral interventions and interventions for families, individually or in groups, ensuring compliance with all regulatory standards.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of educational programs to advance clinical care, attending departmental educational in-services, workshops, and professional conferences, and sharing new knowledge with staff.
  • Plan and implement patient-related programming initiatives within the service, evaluate the efficacy of outpatient program initiatives, and assist the Supervisor in clinical interventions to reduce errors or delays in outpatient service delivery.
  • Under the direction of the supervisor and site director, develop and regularly update a plan for cultivating and maintaining referral sources for the program.
