About The Position

This posting is open exclusively to current AL DOC incumbent employees. NaphCare is hiring a Psychologist to join our team of medical professionals in the William C. Holman Correctional Facility in Atmore, Alabama. As a Correctional Psychologist, you will provide psychological treatment and support to the facility residents while working alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals. This is a unique position where you can make a difference to this diverse population of patients with complex mental health needs.

Requirements

• Must hold a current, unrestricted Psychologist license in Alabama
• Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
• Experience with underserved and marginalized populations, including those with mental health and substance use disorders
• Strong communication skills and ability to communicate with diverse individuals, including other medical professionals, correctional staff and judges
• Ability to interpret and analyze data to create treatment plans
• Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards
• Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
• Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

• Providing psychological leadership, consultation and direct services for patients to help improve their mental health and reduce the risk of recidivism.
• Collaborating with a multidisciplinary team in providing assessment and treatment of mental and emotional disorders of patients.
• Working with inmates to prepare them for reintegration into society, providing support for finding housing, employment, and other resources.
• Providing counseling and support to help inmates manage emotional challenges, cope with incarceration, and develop coping mechanisms.
• Coordinating, leading and participating in educational training activities related to mental health care
• Conducting risk assessments to identify potential dangers to inmates and the public, informing decisions about housing, treatment, and release
