Inpatient psychiatry services for children and adolescents at Children's National are provided through the Division of Psychiatry. Our multidisciplinary team is composed of pediatric psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, academic counselors, psychologists, and expressive (art) therapists, who see to all aspects of care. We offer two separate programs to meet the distinct medical needs of children and teens. The Child Psychiatric Unit (CPU) is a 12-bed unit for patients aged 2-12. The Adolescent Psychiatric Unit (APU) is a 14-bed unit for those aged 13-17. The Psychologist is responsible for the care of patients in the hospital and clinics, as well as research, educational and advocacy initiatives as determined by the Division and/or Center leadership.
