About The Position

Avista is seeking a Psychologist to join the East Limerick Children’s Services, Limerick. This is a permanent part-time contract position (17.5 hours per week). Avista, in partnership with the HSE, is the lead agency for East Limerick Children Services, a Children’s Disability Network Team in Limerick. The role involves supporting children with complex disability needs and their families in a family and person-centred, community-based, socially inclusive manner. As a Basic Grade Psychologist, you will be part of the 0-18 children’s disability network team, practicing a family-centred approach. You will work within a motivated team, contributing to collaborative efforts with children, families, and the team, and providing services in line with interdisciplinary approaches for interventions and assessments. The ELCS CDNT operates based on the principles of Progressing Disability Services within Ireland.

Requirements

  • Have a university degree or diploma (QQI level 8 equivalent) obtained with 1st or 2nd class honours in which Psychology was taken as a major subject and honours obtained in that subject.
  • Have an Irish post-graduate professional psychology qualification accredited by the Psychological Society of Ireland in Clinical, Counselling or Educational Psychology OR An equivalent qualification from another jurisdiction validated by the Department of Health.
  • Demonstrate competence in the Care Group/s applied for.
  • Applicants with a clinical or counselling psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings, for the area / areas for which they wish to apply - Disability (Child and Adult), Child Psychology, Adult Psychology - either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post-qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist.
  • Applicants with an educational psychology qualification must demonstrate that they have acquired in appropriate health settings for the area / Areas for which they wish to apply - Child Disability, Child Psychology - either at least 60 days or equivalent supervised clinical placements as part of the professional qualification; or at least 60 days or equivalent post qualification supervised work experience as a psychologist.
  • Must be a member of the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or a member of the British Psychological Society (BPS).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience of working with children and/or adolescents and their families with complex needs.
  • Knowledge and skills in conducting diagnostic assessments in children and young people including Autism and ID.
  • Knowledge of HSE Progressing Disability Services Programme.
  • Experience of working within a complex disability team.
  • Experience of interdisciplinary team working.
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal, teamwork and effective caseload management skills together with the ability to work on their own initiative.
  • Applicants should possess Level 1 behavioural competencies of Avista competency framework.
