The Department of Psychiatry at the University of North Carolina (UNC) School of Medicine at Chapel Hill is seeking a fixed-term faculty member to join the Center for Women’s Mood Disorders (CWMD). This position is primarily clinical, focusing on providing evidence-based assessment and psychotherapy to individuals with mental health concerns during the perinatal period (pregnancy, postpartum year, and after pregnancy or infant loss). Services will be delivered in outpatient settings via in-person and telehealth. The faculty rank will be based on experience. Responsibilities include providing psychotherapy within the Perinatal Behavioral Health Psychotherapy Program and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team. The role involves assessment and treatment for a wide range of perinatal mental health issues, including mood and anxiety disorders, OCD, trauma-related conditions, adjustment concerns, and other reproductive mental health conditions. Experience with individuals undergoing fertility treatment and those with PMDD and perimenopausal mental health concerns is highly desirable. Teaching and supervision of trainees (psychology interns, fellows, practicum students, psychiatry residents, social work trainees, and other interprofessional learners) may be included. Didactic programming and case conferences are also potential teaching activities. Faculty are expected to contribute to the department's academic mission through clinical care, education, service, and scholarly activity. Participation in program development, quality improvement, and clinical research collaborations is encouraged. The ideal candidate will be expert in evidence-based psychotherapies for the perinatal period, including Behavioral Activation, Exposure and Response Prevention, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Strong interpersonal skills, a commitment to patient-centered and culturally responsive care, and effective interdisciplinary teamwork are essential.
