About The Position

The Psychologist II provides patient care to an assigned group of patients in the Burn Intensive Care Unit, the outpatient Burn and Wound Clinic and the Acute Rehabilitation Unit. The Psychologist incorporates the psycho-motor and age appropriate cognitive skills of the patient/family/significant other utilizing knowledge of patient assessment, planning, intervention and evaluation. Evaluates each burn and Rehabilitation patient for signs of acute stress disorder and assists with the psycho-social adjustment of the patient and the family by providing services to facilitate the burn patients improved coping with traumatic circumstances of the injury and/or mechanism of onset of new chronic impairments, immediate and long-term medical and psychosocial stressors, and post-discharge adjustment necessary throughout continued recovery and return to the demands of everyday life. Acts as a clinical resource to staff, participating in advanced clinical practice.

Requirements

  • Minimum one year work experience as a Clinical Psychologist
  • Knowledge and practice of age related acuity levels
  • Current licensure as a Psychologist within the State of California
  • Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
  • Ability to maintain flexibility and work well in a constantly changing environment
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization

Nice To Haves

  • Understanding of JCAHO requirements
  • Demonstrated experience working with burn and acute rehab patients suffering new onset of chronic disabling impairments
  • Demonstrated experience working in a Level I Trauma Center
  • Bilingual skills to communicate effectively with patients and families
