About The Position

This position provides comprehensive treatment to patients adjudicated Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity (NGRI). Responsibilities include comprehensive risk assessment and management strategies, forensic report writing for the graduated privileging process, initial and ongoing psychological assessments, individual treatment sessions focusing on risk management and treatment issues, treatment planning as a core member of a treatment team, conducting psychotherapy groups, and providing behavioral consultation and program development as needed. The role may also involve supervision and training for students (intern and practicum).

Requirements

• Doctoral Degree in Psychology.
• License eligibility as a Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Experience with coordination of psychological services for each patient on caseload.
• Knowledge, skills, and abilities for the delivery of psychological practice and principles with a specific focus on risk assessment and risk management.
• Knowledge of hospital/community/agency resources and ability to work effectively with interdisciplinary treatment team.
• Understanding of those adjudicated Not Guilty by Reason of Insanity and the graduated privileging process, with specific emphasis on their respective treatment needs.
• Knowledge of how persons with mental illness encounter the legal and criminal justice systems.

Nice To Haves

• Licensed as a Clinical Psychologist in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
• Forensic training through the Institute of Law, Psychiatry, and Public Policy (ILPPP).

Responsibilities
