About The Position

Spectrum Healthcare Resources has an opportunity for a civilian full-time Psychological Technician at the Fort Belvoir-sponsored Family Health Centers in Fairfax, VA. This contract position offers a Monday-Friday schedule, Health, Dental and 401(k) benefits, an Outpatient Setting, and Paid Holidays. As part of an interdisciplinary team, the Psychological Technician coordinates and implements patient care specific to the age of the population served, ensuring compassionate, engaged care that meets or exceeds quality standards. The role involves providing care in an efficient and safe manner consistent with Ft. Belvoir Community Hospital standards of care. Responsibilities include ensuring patient and environmental safety, interacting appropriately with patients and families, identifying environmental factors impacting treatment, and recognizing self-care, cultural, ethnic, spiritual, and educational needs of patients and their families. The technician will assist in developing, implementing, and revising the plan of care, implementing the provider's treatment plan, monitoring vital signs, observing and reporting on patient progress, and documenting appropriately. A key function of this position is administering Psychological testing in support of Behavioral Health care and treatment.

Requirements

  • Must possess a Bachelor’s Degree in a Behavioral Health related discipline.
  • Must have prior, successful experience administering Psychological testing (examples: IQ tests, personality tests).
  • Must have at least one year experience working in a Behavioral Health setting.
  • Have and maintain current certification in Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS).
  • Shall be able to read, write, and speak English well enough to effectively communicate with patients and other staff members.
  • Have knowledge of computer operations and proficiency in the use of basic word processing, data entry, and automated records.

Responsibilities

  • Administers, ensures proper accuracy and completion by the patient, scores, and present results for Psychological tests under the supervision of a licensed Psychologist.
  • Assists the physician, RN, Social Worker and other treatment team members in decision-making to ensure complete and appropriate information is shared.
  • Identifies and reports any pertinent behavioral, medical, and/or psychosocial data to the physician, RN, and/or Social Worker.
  • Serves as positive role model by establishing maintaining positive, therapeutic relationships and appropriate boundaries with patients and their guardians.
  • Completes vital sign monitoring per policy.
  • Provide patient privacy and comply with HIPAA.
  • Practicing OSHA safety standards.
  • Perform accurate, legal and ethical documentation at all times.
  • Assist with other duties as needed and assigned.
