About The Position

Located within a Big Ten University town, CMHA-CEI is seeking a dynamic Staff Psychiatrist, under the supervision of the Medical Director, to join our current group of psychiatrists. This role will be responsible for the delivery of direct psychiatric services for adults with mental illness, utilizing an array of therapeutic techniques, including medication management. Duties may include providing services in a variety of different clinics serving mentally ill and/or developmentally disabled adults. The Adult Psychiatrist provides face-to-face psychiatric evaluations as well as consultation and treatment. The position is responsible for carrying out the activities of the program in a manner that fulfills CMHA-CEI’s mission, policies and procedures. There is an opportunity to participate in the education of residents and for clinical appointment to Michigan State University Department of Psychiatry. Requirements

  • Possession of M.D. or D.O. degree.
  • Successful completion of an accredited General Psychiatry Residency program.
  • License to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine in the State of Michigan (applicants licensed in another state will be considered, but Michigan licensure required prior to hiring).
  • One (1) year specialized experience working with mentally ill and/or developmentally disabled adults within the past five (5) years (time in residency training may be included).
  • Possession of a valid DEA certificate and number.
  • Insurable through the professional liability and malpractice insurance provided by CMHA-CEI.
  • Ability to communicate accurately and effectively in verbal and written form.
  • Demonstrated leadership and excellent judgment.
  • Access to reliable transportation for job-related use.
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen.
