About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Psychiatry Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) in an outpatient clinic setting. The role involves providing comprehensive patient assessments, developing treatment plans, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, prescribing medications, and educating patients. The practitioner will collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers, ensuring accurate and thorough documentation. The position is for an independent contractor (1099) and requires active New Mexico licensure, board certification, AHA BLS Certification, and a minimum of 1 year of psychiatry experience.

Requirements

  • Active New Mexico licensure
  • Board certification
  • AHA BLS Certification
  • Minimum 1-year Psychiatry experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics)
  • Active and unencumbered advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) license in New Mexico
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP])

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
