About The Position

Brown University Health has openings for board certified or eligible psychiatrists interested in working in an inpatient setting. Working at either Newport of Morton Hospital, affiliated hospitals of the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, you will treat patients with a variety of mood disorders, anxiety, PTSD, and psychosis. Our programs encompass a comprehensive view of mental health that includes and integrates the biological, psychological, and social dimensions of care. The position involves working on a 15-bed inpatient unit in Newport or a 19-bed inpatient unit in Morton. Patients treated are aged 18+ and elderly patients are accepted depending on functional status. The diagnoses treated include psychotic disorders, mood disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, and co-occurring substance use disorders. The inpatient behavioral health team includes nurses, psych techs, social workers, and a recreation therapist. Leadership opportunities are available if desired. This position is PSLF Eligible.

Requirements

  • Board certified or eligible in psychiatry
  • Completion of a US-based psychiatry residency
  • Currently in or have the desire to settle in the area long term

Responsibilities

  • Treat patients with a variety of mood disorders, anxiety, PTSD, and psychosis.
  • Treat patients aged 18+.
  • Accept elderly patients depending on functional status.
  • Manage diagnoses including psychotic disorders, mood disorders, PTSD, personality disorders, and co-occurring substance use disorders.
