Eastern Shawnee Staffing Services, in partnership with Indian Health Services (IHS), is seeking an experienced Psychiatrist for a contract assignment at Piñon Health Center. Requirements

  • Strong clinical, diagnostic, and decision-making skills

  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Commitment to continuous learning and professional development
  • Must be a U.S. citizen residing primarily in the United States
  • Experience with Indian Health Service (IHS) or tribal healthcare systems preferred
  • Experience working in rural or underserved communities strongly preferred
  • Must be able to pass federal background check, credentialing, and onboarding requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Psychiatry Residency Program
  • Minimum two (2) years of Psychiatry experience required
  • Experience treating patients ages 5 and older required
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry required
  • Active, unrestricted Physician license in any U.S. state or territory required
  • Valid DEA license with Schedule II–V authority required
  • Current BLS/CPR certification required
  • Experience in outpatient, community mental health, or underserved settings needed
  • Strong EHR documentation and computer skills required
  • Must provide required immunizations and health clearances prior to start
  • Ability to work onsite in Piñon, AZ required

  • ACLS and PALS Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and ongoing medication management in an outpatient clinic setting
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of mental health conditions including depression, anxiety, PTSD, bipolar disorder, substance use disorders, and other psychiatric illnesses
  • Develop individualized treatment plans tailored to each patient’s needs
  • Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications
  • Provide crisis intervention and behavioral health support as needed
  • Collaborate closely with primary care providers, behavioral health teams, and interdisciplinary staff
  • Educate patients and families on mental health conditions, treatment options, and wellness strategies
  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation within the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Support a culturally sensitive and patient-centered approach to care
