About The Position

Centurion is proud to be the provider of behavioral health services to the Allegheny County Mobile Competency Restoration Program. The Allegheny County Mobile Competency Restoration Program provides treatment to individuals for competency restoration both in the community and in the jail setting. We are currently seeking a per diem Psychiatrist to join our team in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. This position is for evaluations and coverage as needed. Under the direction of the Program Manager, the Psychiatrist is responsible for providing diagnosis and treatment recommendations and providing services to patients in a jail and/or a community setting to meet service delivery requirements of the Allegheny County Mobile Competency Restoration and Support Team (MCRST). Other duties include: Provides psychiatric services to individuals who have been found incompetent to stand trial by the Court, and are diagnosed with a serious mental illness and/or co-occurring disorders (serious mental illness and substance use disorder(s)). Serves as a leading member of the multidisciplinary treatment team and contributes to the development, implementation, evaluation, and revision of individual treatment plans with goal of promoting continuity of care. Works collaboratively with the jail Psychiatrist and treatment team to diagnose psychiatric disorders based on presentation of symptoms and patient self-report. Diagnoses to be consistent with DSM criteria and presenting/target symptoms. Performs psychiatric evaluations for patients referred by behavioral health staff, medical staff, correctional staff, etc., for MCRST. Provides psychiatric follow-up for patients as per their level of care and based on the triage of patient requests for behavioral health services.

Requirements

  • Current Pennsylvania medical license (MD or DO) in good standing.
  • Board certification or board eligible for certification in psychiatry.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience working as a psychiatrist in a psychiatric hospital, a behavioral health (inpatient or outpatient) center, or correctional facility preferred.
  • Ability to plan, organize, develop, and document services in a manner that maximizes accountability; strong written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Must be able to work independently, set and meet deadlines, ability to work from home and demonstrate productivity.
  • Ability to navigate an electronic medical record.
  • Ability to interact well with varied levels of managerial, clinical, custody, court, and administrative staff in correctional and community environments.
  • A valid automobile driver’s license, appropriate automobile insurance, and a safe, reliable, registered automobile available for use during work is required.
  • Active in-person CPR certification required along with current tuberculosis screening.
  • Must be able to pass background investigation and obtain agency security clearance (Act 33/34 Clearances are required and ability to pass Allegheny County background check including drug testing).
