About The Position

CFG Health Network is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to provide inpatient psychiatric care at Inspira Medical Center Bridgeton, with additional court-related responsibilities at Inspira Medical Center Mannington. This position offers the opportunity to work as part of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team caring for a high-acuity inpatient population. The psychiatrist will share the daily patient census with an experienced Advanced Practice Nurse (APN), collaborate with residents when assigned to the service, and participate in treatment planning and discharge coordination.

Requirements

  • MD or DO from an accredited medical school.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.
  • Active or eligible for New Jersey medical licensure.
  • Current DEA and CDS registrations or eligibility to obtain.
  • Strong clinical judgment, communication and interdisciplinary collaboration skills.
  • Comfort working with high-acuity psychiatric patients and involuntary treatment populations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in inpatient psychiatry preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, treatment and medication management for an inpatient behavioral health population.
  • Manage a daily caseload of approximately 15–16 patients, generally consisting of 1–2 new admissions and 10–15 follow-up visits.
  • Complete initial psychiatric evaluations for STCF admissions. APNs may independently complete voluntary admissions.
  • Conduct daily rounds and participate in daily multidisciplinary treatment team meetings.
  • Collaborate closely with nursing, social work, therapy, case management, psychology, utilization review and other members of the treatment team.
  • Provide clinical guidance and oversight to psychiatry residents when residents are assigned to the service.
  • Complete timely and accurate documentation in Epic.
  • Participate in discharge planning with the multidisciplinary team; social work coordinates the formal discharge plan.
  • Complete physician peer-to-peer reviews when required. Routine insurance/utilization reviews are handled by support staff.
  • Communicate with patients' families and other supports as clinically appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with hospitalist/medical services and hospital security when medical or behavioral emergencies arise.
  • Evaluate Mannington patients scheduled for court.
  • Prepare required court documentation approximately two days before the hearing.
  • Complete required certifications.
  • Attend court onsite and provide testimony regarding the patient's clinical status and progress.
  • Typically manage 2–4 court cases per session, with up to approximately six possible cases.
