About The Position

Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital is seeking a full-time Psychiatrist to join their dynamic inpatient medical team. This is a 120-bed inpatient psychiatric hospital located in Tacoma, Washington, accredited by the Department of Health and Joint Commission. They provide acute care psychiatric services to both voluntary and involuntary patients, emphasizing whole-person centered care that supports wellness and recovery. The approach is inclusive of everyone’s unique values, strengths, and beliefs, and a strong team approach is utilized, including providers, nurses, mental health technicians, and therapy team members. The role involves providing high-quality, efficient, and effective specialized psychiatric care that is evidence-based and trauma-informed, adhering to hospital standards, statutory requirements, and accepted clinical practices. Responsibilities include admitting, attending, discharging, and consulting on patients, as well as providing direct patient care through examination, diagnosis, and the development of treatment goals and plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and patients.

Requirements

• MD/DO degree from an accredited institution.
• Successful completion of a residency program in Psychiatry, approved by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or American Osteopathic Association.
• Current Washington state medical license.
• Current valid DEA license.
• BE/BC in Psychiatry: current certification or active participation in the examination process leading to certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology or the American Osteopathic Board of Neurology and Psychiatry.
• Current Basic Life Support card through American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Providing high quality, efficient and effective specialized psychiatric care that is evidence based and trauma-informed, in accordance with Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital standards and guidelines, as well as with applicable statutory requirements and accepted clinical practices for the medical profession of psychiatry.
• Admitting, attending, discharging and consulting on patients following established protocols as determined by Wellfound Behavioral Health Hospital medical governance and bylaws.
• Providing direct patient care that respects the patient’s unique values and needs by examining, diagnosing and analyzing the patient’s total health condition and developing short- and long-term treatment goals and plans in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team and with each patient and/or their care designee(s).
