About The Position

Family Health Centers of San Diego (FHCSD) is seeking a Psychiatrist to join their team at the La Mesa Family Counseling Center. FHCSD is a large federally qualified health center (FQHC) with a mission to provide high-quality, affordable healthcare and supportive services to all, with a focus on the uninsured, low-income, and medically underserved. The La Mesa location offers a comprehensive range of behavioral health services with ample support staff for clinicians. The role involves working as part of a multidisciplinary team to provide evaluations, diagnoses, and treatment for patients with mental illness, emotional disorders, and substance abuse. Responsibilities include coordinating treatment plans, assessing medical information, communicating with various staff and providers, consulting with primary care physicians, completing documentation, and performing other assigned duties. Requirements

  • Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
  • Board certification or eligibility in Psychiatry.
  • Valid California medical license.
  • DEA license.
  • Experience in providing psychiatric evaluations and treatment.
  • Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) setting.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.
  • Experience with integrated behavioral health models.

Responsibilities

  • Works effectively as a member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team.
  • Provides comprehensive evaluations, diagnosis and treatment of patients with mental illness, emotional disorders and/or substance abuse.
  • Coordinate psychiatric treatment plan with both FHCSD therapy, case management, primary care, and with community support systems as appropriate.
  • Assess medical information including pathophysiology, patient presentation, differential diagnosis, etc., to facilitate health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Communicates with providers, physicians, case managers, scheduling staff, referring providers, and all patient support staff.
  • Provide consultation and support to primary care providers in the management of primary care patients with mental health concerns.
  • Meets clinic site and organization needs in a reliable and flexible manner.
  • Complete all required documentation in accordance with departmental standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
