About The Position

Physician Affiliate Group of New York (PAGNY) is seeking a Psychiatrist - Nocturnist - CPEP to join the group at NYC Health + Hospitals/Jacobi and North Central Bronx. Jacobi Medical Center is a 457-bed, Level I Trauma Center known for its leadership in emergency medicine, trauma surgery, burn care, pediatrics, primary care, and women’s health. The hospital has a strong academic affiliation with Albert Einstein College of Medicine. The mission of NYC Health + Hospitals is to provide comprehensive health services of the highest quality to all New Yorkers with compassion, dignity, and respect, regardless of immigration status or ability to pay. Our Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) is a modern, state-of-the-art emergency psychiatry service offering a spectrum of multidisciplinary services. The CPEP includes separate pediatric and adult waiting areas, patient interview rooms, a patient holding area, and six extended observation beds. It handles approximately 7,000 registrations per month and has an embedded Mobile Crisis Team. Due to the extensive Inpatient, Outpatient, and Addiction Services within Jacobi's Behavioral Healthcare Department, patients evaluated in the CPEP are typically treated within their continuum of care.

Requirements

Active New York State Medical License.
Board Certified or Board Eligible in Psychiatry.

Responsibilities

Be the primary psychiatrist in charge during the overnight hours in our CPEP.
Conduct psychiatric evaluations and manage acute psychiatric presentations.
Document assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes in the electronic health record in a timely manner.
Coordination of disposition planning in conjunction with Social Workers, Physician Assistants, and other medical staff.
Documentation of incidents in conjunction with other members of the treatment team.
Support psychiatric emergencies and crisis intervention during the shift.
Provide psychiatric consultation to the medical emergency room.
Responsible for the provision of cutting edge, comprehensive, evidence-based psychiatric care to patients who present to the CPEP.

Benefits

Annual Base Salary: $301,000 (board eligible); $311,000 (board certified) based on 40-hour work week.
Additional compensation available for extra call or sessional/per diem hours.
Estimated annual compensation for 10 additional sessional/per diem hours worked per week is $104,000.
Projected bonus of up to $40,000 (based on previous year’s average), contingent upon meeting quality and productivity targets.
