Requirements

  • M.D. degree and license to practice medicine in Nebraska.
  • Completed an ACGME approved Psychiatric residency program and board-certified or board-eligible in psychiatry.
  • Must have completed an ACGME accredited forensic psychiatry fellowship and be board-eligible or board-certified in forensic psychiatry.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic assessments to develop individualized treatment plans.
  • Provide medication management and therapeutic interventions for individuals with serious mental illness.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including psychologists, nurses, social workers, and other clinical staff to deliver coordinated patient care.
  • Participate in treatment planning meetings, peer consultation, and case reviews to ensure high-quality care and clinical accountability.
  • Conduct specialized forensic psychiatric evaluations and prepare reports for courts and other entities regarding issues such as competency to stand trial, criminal responsibility, and risk assessment.
  • Perform evaluations related to civil commitment and other forensic mental health matters.
  • Provide consultation regarding the psychiatric status and treatment needs of forensic patients.
  • Collaborate with clinicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams to support patient treatment and safety.
  • Participate in treatment planning, peer consultation, and case review activities.
