About The Position

The Psychiatric Technician/Weekender position at Atrium Health Charlotte Behavioral Health I/P Psychiatric Adolescent 2 West Unit is a part-time role responsible for observing, reporting, and documenting changes in patient behavior. The technician will interact therapeutically with patients, assist in and participate in social and recreational activities, group therapy, and patient teaching groups. This role requires the appropriate use of CPI techniques, making rounds on assigned patients at least every half hour, and demonstrating flexibility in a changing workload. The technician must respond to patients with empathy, maintaining their dignity and confidentiality, and participate in unit-based process improvement activities, committees, and all mandatory training.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Good therapeutic communication skills required.
  • CPI certification required within 90 days of hire date.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Relevant patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assists, initiates, and participates in social and recreational activities, group therapy, patient teaching groups, and other group activities.
  • Uses CPI techniques appropriately.
  • Makes rounds on assigned patients at least every half hour during shift.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in changing workload.
  • Responds to patients with empathy, maintaining their dignity and confidentiality.
  • Participates in unit-based process improvement activities.
  • Participates in unit-based committees.
  • Completes all mandatory training as per facility policy.
