Requirements

  • High school degree or equivalent required.
  • BLS required.
  • Completion of CPI training required
  • Oxygen certification (Medication Aide Training Hospital based) required within 6 months of hiring. Update to be completed every 2 years.

Responsibilities

  • Assists all patients with ADL's.
  • Performs 15 minute safety checks on all patients. Performs room checks on all patients. Assists with keeping the unit clean and neat at all times.
  • Assists with the admission and discharge process maintaining the safety of the patient.
  • Assists patients at all meals with their food trays and maintains safety during meal times in the Dining Room.
  • Performs accu-checks and Vital Signs as needed on patients.
  • Performs patient care responsibilities as directed by the Charge Nurse.
  • Intervenes verbally and physically with patients who are assaultive or attempting to harm themselves. Knowledge of crisis intervention, limit setting and behavior modification required.
  • Documents in flow sheets: 15 minute checks, graphics, restraint flow sheets, I&D flow sheets, patient education and diabetic flow sheets.
  • Assists recreational staff as needed in implementation of activities.
  • Attends and participates in 75% of staff meetings. Attends 100% of mandatory trainings and inservices.
