About The Position

This is a full-time (36 hours per week) Psychiatric Technician position at Atrium Health Davidson Behavioral Health River Birch, working night shifts from 7pm to 7am. The role involves observing and documenting patient behavior, interacting therapeutically with patients, assisting in and participating in various patient activities and groups, and utilizing CPI techniques appropriately. The position requires making regular rounds on assigned patients, demonstrating flexibility, responding to patients with empathy, and participating in unit-based process improvement and committees. On-call duties may be requested, and all mandatory training must be completed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Good therapeutic communication skills required.
  • CPI certification required within 90 days of hire date.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Relevant patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Observes, reports, and documents signs and symptoms or changes in patient behavior to charge nurse.
  • Interacts with patients therapeutically.
  • Assists, initiates, and participates in social and recreational activities, group therapy, patient teaching groups, and other group activities.
  • Uses CPI techniques appropriately.
  • Makes rounds on assigned patients at least every half hour during shift.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in changing workload.
  • Responds to patients with empathy, maintaining their dignity and confidentiality.
  • Participates in unit-based process improvement activities.
  • Participates in unit-based committees.
  • May include on-call duties as requested by administration.
  • Completes all mandatory training as per facility policy.
