About The Position

This position is for 2-12 hour shifts from 7p-7a per week. The Psychiatric Technician - Behavioral Health will observe, report, and document signs and symptoms or changes in patient behavior to the charge nurse. They will interact with patients therapeutically, assist, initiate, and participate in social and recreational activities, group therapy, patient teaching groups, and other group activities. The role requires the use of CPI techniques appropriately, making rounds on assigned patients at least every half hour during the shift, and demonstrating flexibility in changing workload. Responding to patients with empathy, maintaining their dignity and confidentiality, and participating in unit-based process improvement activities and committees are also key functions. On-call duties may be requested by administration, and all mandatory training as per facility policy must be completed.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Good therapeutic communication skills required.
  • CPI certification required within 90 days of hire date.
  • BLS required per policy guidelines.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Relevant patient care experience in a hospital setting preferred.
