Psychiatric Nursing Assistant (PNA) - Ramapo Ridge Behavioral Health Hospital
About The Position
Christian Health is seeking a Part-time Psychiatric Nursing Assistant (PNA) to join the team at Ramapo Ridge Behavioral Health Hospital. This role operates under the direction of the RN and involves implementing nursing care plans, observing and reporting changes in patient behavior and physical status, and maintaining a safe and therapeutic unit environment. The PNA is competent to care for adult (ages 19-64) and geriatric (ages 65+) patients and must embrace the mission statement of Christian Health Care Center. The position is part-time, with shifts from 11 pm to 7 am, and requires working every other weekend.
Requirements
- High School graduate or equivalent preferred.
- Prior experience in a health care facility.
- Must be able to document changes of emotional and physical status of patients on patient care flow sheets.
- Must be able to communicate with physicians, nursing staff, visitors, patients, families, other departments, in accordance to the philosophy and the Service Excellence standards.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a psychiatric facility preferred.
Responsibilities
- Supervises or assists in after meal care (removing trays, encouraging patients in brushing teeth, washing up, etc.).
- Serves food trays.
- Assists with feeding as indicated.
- Assists patients in preparing for activity and social programs, as per unit program schedules.
- Answers call bells promptly.
- Changes bed linens.
- Assists or supervises patients to walk with or without self-help devices as instructed.
- Reports all changes in the patient's condition to the Charge/Staff Nurse as soon as practical.
- Keeps floors dry.
- Reports spills immediately.
- Maintains intake and output records as instructed.
- Greets and escorts patient to his/her room.
- Informs the Charge/Staff Nurse of equipment and supply needs.
- Records all supplies and equipment utilized for appropriate procedures to Charge/Staff Nurse.
- Assists in transporting patients to/from appointments, activities and social programs, etc. as necessary/assigned.
- Maintains the confidentiality of all patient care information.
