About The Position

The University of Iowa Health Care Department of Nursing is seeking a Psychiatric Nursing Assistant to perform specific tasks to assist members of the Nursing team in providing patient care under the direct supervision of Registered Nurses. The Child and Adolescent Psychiatry unit, John Pappajohn Pavillion (1 JPW), is a 15-bed inpatient unit dedicated to child and adolescent (3-17 years old) psychiatry services. This unit's patient population includes depression, anxiety, eating disorder, intellectual disability, substance abuse, and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. The unit provides structured therapy, including Dialectal Behavioral Therapy. Unique unit design features Circle School, playground, and gym to improve patient experience and outcomes.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and follow instructions.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience defusing volatile situations
  • Be a Certified Nursing Assistant
  • Strong written communication skills with experience providing customer service relations
  • Previous patient care experience in a Mental Health setting is highly desired.
