About The Position

Pelorus Elder & Behavioral Health is seeking enthusiastic Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners to join their growing team. The role involves conducting initial and follow-up Psychiatric consults in assisted living and skilled nursing facilities, with daily patient encounters ranging from 11 to 16. The position emphasizes an efficient workflow with light clinical documentation, primarily initial and follow-up progress notes, and minimal administrative tasks such as H&P’s, discharge summaries, or treatment plans. There are no hospital-based services, admissions, or discharges. Clinicians participate in a telephone-based on-call schedule approximately one weeknight in seven and less than one weekend per month, with infrequent calls. The daily work schedule is flexible, offering significant autonomy and independence, while still providing support from psychiatrists and colleagues. Both full-time and part-time opportunities are available.

Requirements

  • NJ APRN license
  • NJ DEA
  • AANP certification (must be PMHNP)
  • Active and unrestricted license
  • Effective oral and written communication in English
  • Basic proficiency with technology, including electronic health records (EHR)
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to regulatory compliance
  • Ability to provide in-person services at assigned facilities
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move between patient rooms and offices within the facility throughout the day

Nice To Haves

  • Experience prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications (very strongly preferred)
  • PMHNP certification is ideal in NJ (Family & Geriatric are acceptable in NJ)

Responsibilities

  • Conduct initial and follow-up Psychiatric consults in select assisted living and skilled nursing facilities
  • Manage approximately 11 to 16 daily patient encounters
  • Perform light clinical documentation, including initial and follow-up progress notes
  • Submit billing
  • Participate in a telephone-based on-call schedule (about 1 weeknight in 7 and less than one weekend/month)
