About The Position

Brightline is seeking a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC) to join their care team. This role involves working with a multidisciplinary team to provide high-quality psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and their families. The position is hybrid, requiring at least three days per week of in-person care at the Albany, New York Clinic. The practice emphasizes thoughtful patient care, including structured diagnostic series and 30-minute medication management visits for relationship-building. The role reports to the Medical Director with support from the Chief Medical Officer, and includes weekly individual and team-based group supervision to support clinician development and clinical quality.

Requirements

  • Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC); board-eligible candidates with a clear certification timeline will be considered.
  • Minimum 2–3 years of post-training clinical experience specifically in pediatric mental health.
  • Active DEA license with demonstrated comfort prescribing stimulants and other controlled substances in a pediatric population.
  • Active New York state license, or willingness to obtain one with administrative and financial support provided.
  • Expertise in conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for children and adolescents, including complex diagnostic presentations.
  • Working knowledge of evidence-based treatment approaches in pediatric psychiatry, including familiarity with ADHD, anxiety, mood disorders, ASD, and trauma.
  • Warm, engaging clinical style with a genuine commitment to family-centered care and therapeutic relationship-building.
  • Strong multidisciplinary collaboration skills — comfortable working alongside therapists, psychologists, coaches, and care operations staff as true peers.
  • Culturally responsive and equity-centered approach to clinical care.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to share clinical reasoning across professional disciplines clearly and constructively.
  • Comfort and enthusiasm for technology-forward care delivery, including telehealth platforms, EHR systems, and AI-assisted tools.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive three-part diagnostic evaluations, including separate sessions with caregivers, the child or adolescent, and a feedback session.
  • Provide ongoing psychiatric medication management via 30-minute follow-up visits, using psychotherapy add-on codes.
  • Complete thorough biopsychosocial intake evaluations, incorporating psychiatric history, medical history, psychosocial functioning, family systems, cultural context, and relevant environmental factors.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to suicidality, self-harm, harm to others, abuse, neglect, and safety concerns, and initiate appropriate clinical interventions.
  • Apply trauma-informed, equity-centered, and culturally responsive practices across all clinical interactions.
  • Prescribe and manage psychiatric medications, including stimulants and other controlled substances, in accordance with evidence-based guidelines and clinical protocols.
  • Collaborate closely with therapists, testing psychologists, coaches, and other non-clinical team members to deliver coordinated, holistic care.
  • Participate in case consultations, treatment planning discussions, and team meetings.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively across professional backgrounds.
  • Contribute to a team culture of psychological safety, mutual respect, and shared accountability.
  • Maintain accurate, timely documentation of session notes, care plans, medication decisions, and progress updates within the electronic health record system.
  • Utilize AI-assisted documentation tools, including an AI scribe.
  • Adhere to documentation standards and turnaround expectations.
  • Partner effectively with non-clinical care operations staff on scheduling, patient communication, and care logistics.
  • Engage with the evolving technology stack, including AI tools, telehealth platforms, and clinical decision support features.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, clinical trainings, and professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute clinical perspective to team discussions about care model improvement, protocol development, and patient experience.
