About The Position

NFI Massachusetts Inc. is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner for its DMH-contracted locked Intensive Residential Treatment Programs in Westborough, MA. These programs serve adolescents with serious emotional and behavioral health needs requiring intensive, structured residential treatment. The role involves psychiatric assessment, medication management, treatment planning, staff consultation, and ongoing psychiatric care, offering the opportunity for meaningful longitudinal treatment and collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. The programs are licensed by the Department of Mental Health and accredited by The Joint Commission.

Requirements

  • Licensed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner in the state of Massachusetts.
  • Federal DEA and Massachusetts Controlled Substance certificates.
  • Experience in psychiatry and/or mental health required; 1+ year preferred.
  • Comfort working with complex youth, families, multidisciplinary teams, and systems of care.
  • Interest in trauma-informed, developmentally informed, and team-based psychiatric treatment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with adolescents in residential, inpatient, CBAT, partial hospital, emergency, or other higher-acuity settings preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations, mental status examinations, diagnostic assessments, and medication treatment planning.
  • Provide ongoing medication management and psychiatric follow-up for adolescents in the program.
  • Collaborate closely with the consulting psychiatrist/medical director on complex diagnostic, medication, risk, and systems-of-care questions.
  • Lead and coordinate all psychiatric aspects of care within the program in collaboration with nursing, clinicians, program leadership, occupational therapy, residential staff, youth, and families.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and contribute to individualized clinical interventions.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Nursing and nursing department.
  • Provide consultation and education to staff regarding psychiatric symptoms, medication treatment, behavioral presentation, risk, trauma, and developmental needs.
  • Support youth and families through thoughtful communication, psychoeducation, and collaborative care planning.
  • Partner with the team around transitions, discharge planning, family work, and community reintegration.
