The 365-bed facility is one of the largest free-standing psychiatric hospital in the United States. We are located on a serene 37-acre campus in northeast Shelby County, serving as the setting for the treatment for children, adolescents, young adults, adults and seniors. Lakeside’s comprehensive programs treat disorders such as bipolar disorder, psychological trauma, depression and anxiety, mental illnesses and addictive disease disorders such as alcoholism, drug addiction and substance abuse. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner provides professional care to both Child and Adolescent and Adult populations. Working under the supervision of a Lakeside psychiatrist, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner completes psychiatric evaluations within 24 hours as assigned by the attending physician. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner rounds regularly on patients as assigned, creating proper documentation for the patient file. This position may regularly take call on nights and weekends to provide orders for patient care.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited nurse practitioner program.
  • One-year prior psychiatric experience in mental health nursing preferred.
  • Licensure and registration by the Tennessee board.
  • Current DEA Certification.
  • Must maintain appropriate clinical privileges commensurate with the NP specialty and license scope.
  • Maintains an appropriate collaborative or similar agreement with a Lakeside supervising physician in accordance with State law.
  • Must possess knowledge of general and psychiatric nursing processes, therapeutic relationships and processes, age specific growth and development, limit setting, crisis and behavior management and CPR training.
