About The Position

Rural Health Group, Inc., located in scenic northeastern North Carolina, is seeking an experienced Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide excellent quality patient-centered health care in an outpatient primary care setting. We seek an individual who is committed to rural practice with the desire to establish roots in the community. This position would serve RHG's clinics located in the "central" region of our service area which include multiple practices in Roanoke Rapids, NC. RHG welcomes applications from qualified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioners, with a preference for candidates who have at least two years of experience.

Requirements

  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of direct patient care in a clinical setting.
  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health.
  • Current licensure as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP).
  • Active and unrestricted Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license for North Carolina.
  • Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority.

  • Preference for candidates who have at least two years of experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and implement individualized, evidence-based treatment plans.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic and psychiatric medications for a range of mental health conditions.
  • Collaborate with primary care providers, social workers and other members of the Rural Health Group team to coordinate integrated care.
  • Conduct follow-up evaluations, monitor treatment effectiveness and treatment adherence.
  • Educate and communicate treatment options and plans, treatment adherence and coping strategies to patients and families.
  • Provide crisis intervention, support and stabilization for individuals experiencing suicidal ideation, aggressive behavior, or other emotional or psychiatric distress which may include a wide range of acute mental health symptoms.
  • Coordinate emergency care and ongoing care as needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation, adhering to all ethical, professional, confidentiality, and legal standards.
  • Other duties as required include but are not limited to quality improvement, public education, and improving mental health in the rural community.
