About The Position

Davis Behavioral Health is seeking a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join its adult medical team. At DBH, providers work hard to ensure that our clients have the right treatment plan to help them on their journey toward better mental health. For some clients, that treatment may include the use of prescription medications to help manage the symptoms associated with mental health conditions. The DBH medical team coordinates and provides the medication management services to help those clients that require medication as part of their treatment plan.

Requirements

  • Licensed as an Advance Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) in the State of Utah.
  • Board certified as a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
  • Ability to perform under crisis situations.
  • Ability to administer, score, interpret and evaluate various psychological data and develop treatment recommendations.
  • Ability to establish professional leadership and cooperative relationships with other DBH staff.
  • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with executives, professionals, administrators, and the public.
  • Thorough knowledge of principles and practices of psychological assessment, including testing, diagnostic evaluation, psychotherapy and behavioral therapy.
  • Thorough knowledge of diagnostic classifications and mental health concepts and fundamentals.
  • Thorough knowledge of various psychological tests and evaluation instruments.
  • Thorough knowledge of normal and abnormal psychology (mental illness and diseases) including their symptoms, treatment and social implications.
  • Thorough knowledge of evaluation and various forms of psychotherapy.
  • Thorough knowledge of client counseling processes, techniques, and methods.
  • Strong working knowledge of current best practices regarding psychological assessment and tests/protocols with demonstrated validity and reliability.
  • Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office products.
  • Must successfully pass a pre-employment criminal background check and drug screening.
  • Must comply with Federal drug laws, including no use of medical marijuana.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual English/Spanish.
  • Experience as a crisis worker is a plus.
  • Flexibility and knowledge of DBH and community resources preferred.
  • Familiarity with electronic medical health records system.
  • Preference for concurrent documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Performs medical/psychiatric assessments.
  • Performs psychiatric evaluations.
  • Provides consultations with clients.
  • Responsible for Medication Management.
  • Responsible for providing medications according to approved formulary.
  • Responsible for meeting quality expectations of accuracy, completeness, and is responsive to feedback.
  • Meets timeliness expectations of completing work as scheduled, demonstrating self-paced performance, and adjusting priorities as needed.
  • Professionally relates to clients and peers at all times.
  • Participates in weekly staff meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • Uses psychological methods and principles to observe, interpret, and evaluate data gathered through interviews, collateral consults, and assessment methods.
  • Contacts, utilizes, develops and coordinates with community agencies and resources to support client needs.
  • Completes required clinical documentation within established timeframes, with preference for concurrent documentation, but no later than 24 hours after an appointment is held.
