About The Position

Assess, diagnose and treat patients with mental health conditions, including providing therapy, prescribing medications and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP)
  • Experience in mental health settings
  • Knowledge of mental health disorders, psychopharmacology, and therapeutic interventions.
  • Strong interpersonal, clinical, and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • State of Ohio APRN Licensure
  • PMHNP Certification - Eligible
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Current DEA Registration
  • Compliance with AFS's written standards, including its Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments to identify mental health conditions.
  • Review patient history, conduct mental status exams and utilize diagnostic tools.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and diagnoses.
  • Implement evidence-based therapies and interventions, including medication management.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, as appropriate and within scope of practice.
  • Provide individual, group and family therapy sessions.
  • Utilize various therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy.
  • Monitor patient(s) responses to medication and adjust dosages as needed.
  • Educate patient(s) and families about medications and potential side effects.
  • Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families and other team members.
  • Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
  • Adhere to governing bodies not limited to HRSA, OMAS and COA requirements.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
  • Participate in community outreach and mental health awareness initiatives.
  • Involvement in research, quality improvement projects, and policy development related to mental health care.
  • May provide consultation services to other healthcare providers.
  • Other duties as assigned.
