About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate, dedicated, and skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our dynamic and mission-driven clinical team. In this role, you will provide high-quality, trauma-informed, person-centered psychiatric care to adults living with serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI), including individuals with co-occurring substance use disorders. This is a rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a collaborative behavioral health setting. Unity House is a Rensselaer County-based human service agency that provides a wide range of services to meet the otherwise unmet needs of people in our community who are hurting and struggling. We assist those who are living in poverty, adults living with mental illness or HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence, and children with developmental delays. We work to achieve social justice in our community and to create a better understanding of those we serve.

Requirements

  • Current NYS Nurse Practitioner license and certification, with a specialty in psychiatry (NPP preferred)
  • Active DEA registration and authorization to prescribe controlled substances in New York State
  • Experience working with adults diagnosed with SPMI and/or co-occurring disorders
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team-based care model
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Clean, valid NYS driver’s license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and provide ongoing medication management
  • Prescribe, administer, and monitor psychotropic medications, including long-acting injectables and controlled substances
  • Provide crisis intervention and clinical support as part of a multidisciplinary team
  • Actively participate in treatment planning and interdisciplinary case conferences
  • Perform health screenings and support the integration of physical and behavioral healthcare
  • Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, social workers, peer specialists, care managers, and other clinical staff
  • Maintain accurate, thorough, and timely clinical documentation in accordance with OMH regulations and standards
