About The Position

Devereux Advanced Behavior Health is seeking a passionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to provide individualized, whole-person (body and mind) care to children and adolescents. In this role, you will focus on the health and wellness of assigned clients and serve as an educator to the entire family, emphasizing wellness and self-care. You will provide clients and their families with the information they need to make healthy life style choices and healthcare decisions. The Devereux Glenholme School in Connecticut provides behavioral health services for children and young adults, ages 10 to 21, who are diagnosed with depression, autism spectrum disorders, attention deficit disorder, conduct disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, bipolar disorder and poor impulse control. Devereux Connecticut offers Individual Therapy as well as Family Therapy. Individual Therapy identifies a child’s specific behavioral challenges and develops the use of skills to enhance the individual’s strengths through various forms of therapy. Family Therapy focuses on improving and enhancing family communication and positive support through parent education and family system therapy. During therapy, parents and caregivers are provided with parenting strategies and techniques that enable them to provide the best of love and support to their children. Other outpatient services offered at our Connecticut location include: Medication management, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TFCBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Parent-Child Interactive Therapy (PCIT), and Psychiatric and psychological evaluations.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a board approved master's level nurse practitioner program with specialty training in psychiatric/mental health.
  • Current valid license as a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) with prescriptive authority in Connecticut.
  • Experience working with children and adolescents with mental health needs required.
  • Experience in working independently in the assessment and treatment of medical problems with children and adolescents.
  • Relevant clinical competence must be evidenced by direct clinical care experience, continuing education credits and letters of reference attesting to the specific skills.
  • Proficient computer skills, mastery of Microsoft applications and data collecting/analyzing platforms.
  • Valid Driver’s license must be maintained.
