Requirements

  • Master's Degree or Doctorate in Nursing from an accredited Nurse Practitioner program.
  • Graduate of an accredited Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) program.
  • Current Tennessee licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) and Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN).
  • Board Certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC).
  • Current DEA registration and prescriptive authority.
  • Current BLS/CPR certification.
  • Thorough knowledge of psychiatric disorders, psychopharmacology, and behavioral health treatment modalities.
  • Understanding of behavioral health regulations, standards, and best practices.
  • Knowledge of crisis intervention, verbal de-escalation techniques, and risk assessment.
  • Ability to establish therapeutic relationships with patients and families.
  • Strong clinical judgment and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Knowledge of age-specific growth and development for children, adolescents, adults, and older adults.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records and healthcare technology systems.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, and sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to respond rapidly during emergency or crisis situations.
  • Ability to participate in patient management and behavioral intervention activities as required.
  • Ability to perform essential job functions with or without reasonable accommodation.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of one (1) year of psychiatric nursing or behavioral health experience.
  • Experience treating child/adolescent and adult psychiatric populations.
  • Inpatient behavioral health experience.
