About The Position

Pelorus Elder & Behavioral Health is a growing Geriatric and Adult Psychiatry practice seeking enthusiastic clinicians to join their outstanding team. This boutique practice provides Psychiatric services to numerous skilled nursing and assisted living facility clients. The successful candidate will be responsible for initial and follow-up Psychiatric consults in select assisted living and skilled nursing facilities. Daily patient encounters will be approximately between 11 to 16, depending on the mix of initial vs. follow-up services. Light clinical documentation is required, with streamlined, one-page note templates facilitating an efficient workflow. There are no hospital-based services, admissions, discharges, or extensive administrative responsibilities. Participation in a telephone-based on-call schedule will consist of about 1 weeknight in 7 and less than one weekend/month, with infrequent calls and no on-call rounds or admissions/discharges. The daily work schedule is flexible, affording much autonomy and independence, with support available from three psychiatrists and colleagues.

Requirements

  • MD APRN license
  • MD DEA
  • AANP certification (must be PMHNP)
  • Active and unrestricted license
  • Effective oral and written communication in English
  • Basic proficiency with technology, including electronic health records (EHR)
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills, with attention to regulatory compliance
  • Ability to provide in-person services at assigned facilities
  • Ability to walk, stand, and move between patient rooms and offices within the facility throughout the day

Nice To Haves

  • Experience prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications is very strongly preferred, but training is available for the right candidate.
  • PMHNP certification is ideal in NJ (Family & Geriatric are acceptable in NJ).

Responsibilities

  • Perform initial and follow-up Psychiatric consults in assisted living and skilled nursing facilities.
  • Conduct daily patient encounters, approximately 11 to 16.
  • Complete light clinical documentation, including initial and follow-up progress notes.
  • Participate in a telephone-based on-call schedule (approx. 1 weeknight in 7, less than one weekend/month).
  • Submit billing.
