Under the general supervision of the Chief Integration Officer and Chief Medical Officer, the Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner will provide essential mental health services to our diverse patient population. This position will diagnose, treat, and manage a range of mental health disorders, while collaborating closely with interdisciplinary teams to develop comprehensive treatment plans. The Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner participates in collaboration and consultation with the Psychiatrist, as determined by the Medical Director, and in accordance with their licensure and level of experience.

Requirements

  • Advanced Nurse Practitioner degree (MSN or DNP) from a recognized, accredited university.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of experience in the provision of psychiatric services as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Current, valid, and unrestricted California licensure as a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner; NP 103 license/certification is preferred.
  • Current Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) certification is required.
  • Ability to keep accurate, clear, and legible records.
  • Ability to work with Electronic Health Records (EHR).
  • Proven ability to work as a part of a multi-disciplinary team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a diverse client population.
  • Strong analytical, employee relations, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent writing, business communication, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Ability to interact effectively and in a supportive manner with persons of all backgrounds.

  • Must have good computer skills using Microsoft Office and the ability to use Axis departmental systems.
  • Must be able to use office equipment (i.e. copier, fax, etc.).

Nice To Haves

  • One to two years’ experience working in a primary care clinic setting is preferred.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish and/or other languages is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain an ongoing patient load as cases are referred from both primary care and behavioral health.
  • Conduct initial assessments and follow-up sessions as necessary.
  • Complete documentation using the electronic health record in a timely fashion while adhering to related laws and regulations for documentation.
  • Track patient progress and utilize screening measures as required.
  • Monitor and coordinate the delivery of health services for clients related to integrated behavioral health care, including linking with other treatment providers not only within the primary care setting.
  • Assist the primary care provider in recognizing, treating, and managing mental health and psychosocial issues and contribute to the primary care team.
  • Provide consultations for primary care medical providers or behavioral health staff as requested.
  • Work in conjunction with a consulting psychiatric nurse practitioner as needed.
  • Provide training to medical or integrated behavioral health staff as requested.
  • Provide all services in accordance with accepted standards of care and Axis protocols within the parameters of agency contractual requirements.
  • Participate in staff meetings and attend other meetings and training events as assigned.
  • May be required to perform other related duties, responsibilities, and special projects as assigned.
