About The Position

Pelorus Elder & Behavioral Health is a boutique Geriatric and Adult Psychiatry practice that provides psychiatric services in skilled nursing and assisted living facilities. The successful candidate will be responsible for initial and follow-up Psychiatric consults, with daily patient encounters ranging from approximately 11 to 16. The role emphasizes light clinical documentation, utilizing streamlined, one-page note templates, and minimizes bureaucracy by excluding tasks such as H&P’s, discharge summaries, treatment plans, treatment team meetings, or rounds. There are no hospital-based services, admissions, or discharges, and administrative responsibilities are limited to clinical documentation and billing submission. The position includes participation in a telephone-based on-call schedule, which occurs about one weeknight in seven and less than one weekend per month, with infrequent calls. The daily work schedule is flexible, offering significant autonomy and independence, while ensuring support and assistance are always available from the company's psychiatrists and colleagues. Experience prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications is strongly preferred, but the company is willing to train the right candidate. PMHNP certification is required in Pennsylvania and is ideal in New Jersey, though Family & Geriatric certifications are acceptable in New Jersey.
