About The Position
Assess, diagnose and treat patients with mental health conditions, including providing therapy, prescribing medications and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive care.
Requirements
- Master’s degree in Psychiatric Mental Health Nursing (PMHNP)
- Experience in mental health settings
- Knowledge of mental health disorders, psychopharmacology, and therapeutic interventions.
- Strong interpersonal, clinical, and communication skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- State of Ohio APRN Licensure
- PMHNP Certification - Eligible
- Valid Driver’s License
- Current DEA Registration
- Compliance with AFS's written standards, including its Compliance Program and Standards of Conduct and policies and procedures.
Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations and assessments to identify mental health conditions.
- Review patient history, conduct mental status exams and utilize diagnostic tools.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient needs and diagnoses.
- Implement evidence-based therapies and interventions, including medication management.
- Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, as appropriate and within scope of practice.
- Provide individual, group and family therapy sessions.
- Utilize various therapeutic modalities, such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT) and psychodynamic therapy.
- Monitor patient(s) responses to medication and adjust dosages as needed.
- Educate patient(s) and families about medications and potential side effects.
- Collaborate with psychiatrists, psychologists, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure coordinated care.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families and other team members.
- Maintain accurate and thorough patient records, including assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
- Adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
- Adhere to governing bodies not limited to HRSA, OMAS and COA requirements.
- Provide education and support to patients and families about mental health conditions and treatment options.
- Participate in community outreach and mental health awareness initiatives.
- Involvement in research, quality improvement projects, and policy development related to mental health care.
- May provide consultation services to other healthcare providers.
- Other duties as assigned.
