About The Position

Relief is seeking a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to join our team in Middleton, Wisconsin. This full-time position involves conducting psychiatric evaluations, diagnosing mental health conditions, developing treatment plans, managing medications, and providing psychotherapy. The role also includes administering Spravato and potentially IV Ketamine treatments, collaborating with an interdisciplinary team, maintaining accurate patient records, and responding to psychiatric emergencies. The PMHNP will also work with the Psychiatrist/TMS Provider for TMS treatments and continuing education is expected to stay current with advancements in psychiatric medicine.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Doctoral degree in Nursing with a specialization in Psychiatric Mental Health
  • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Certification as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP-BC)
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and clinical skills
  • Strong compassion and empathy for patients and their families
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and demonstrate professionalism in all interactions
  • Knowledge of all health care regulations and confidentiality protocols, including HIPAA
  • Ability to learn and maintain Electronic Health Record system
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities
  • Proficient in all Microsoft Office applications and Google Suite

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in psychiatric or mental health settings highly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations, including medical history and mental status examinations.
  • Assist in diagnosing mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, etc.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising psychiatrists.
  • Prescribe and monitor psychotropic medications, ensuring effective management of side effects and patient adherence.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations for Spravato and IV Ketamine treatments, provide patient education, and monitor vital signs.
  • Provide psychotherapy and counseling to patients, employing evidence-based techniques.
  • Educate patients and their families about mental health conditions, treatment options, and self-management strategies.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of all treatment modalities offered by Relief to ensure individualized care and referrals.
  • Work closely with interdisciplinary teams, including Therapists, Social Workers, Providers, Clinical Assistants, and additional support staff.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient records, documenting assessments, treatment plans, and progress notes.
  • Complete and sign all treatment notes within 48 hours of the appointment.
  • Respond to psychiatric emergencies and provide crisis intervention as needed.
  • Stay updated on advancements in psychiatric medicine and maintain required certifications.
  • Work in tandem with the Psychiatrist/TMS Provider to conduct follow ups, motor threshold mapping, and evaluation of new patients for TMS.
