About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and treatment services for adults living with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders in Hampton, VA. This onsite position offers a Monday–Friday schedule and a collaborative behavioral health team environment focused on patient-centered care. Requirements

Master’s Degree with an Active Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license with Psychiatric Nurse/Mental Health Practitioner specialty
One (1) year of experience working with individuals who are living with mental illness and/or substance use disorders.
DEA registration or eligibility
Clinical expertise
Strong interpersonal communication
Effective crisis intervention skills
Ability to conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations
Ability to make informed treatment recommendations
Proficiency in electronic health record systems and documentation software
Empathy and cultural sensitivity

Responsibilities

Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
Making diagnoses
Crafting treatment recommendations
Ensuring meticulous documentation
Provide prescription and management of psychotropic medications in accordance with an active Prescriptive Authority Practice Agreement, with a physician available for consultation
Administer treatments
Provide direct therapeutic counseling
Respond effectively to client crises
Teach patients and families to follow prescribed medical regimens, considering their unique mental, cultural, and financial backgrounds
