About The Position

We are seeking a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) to provide outpatient psychiatric evaluation, medication management, and treatment services for adults living with serious mental illness and co-occurring substance use disorders in Hampton, VA. This onsite position offers a Monday–Friday schedule and a collaborative behavioral health team environment focused on patient-centered care. Requirements

  • Master’s Degree with an Active Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) license with Psychiatric Nurse/Mental Health Practitioner specialty
  • One (1) year of experience working with individuals who are living with mental illness and/or substance use disorders.

  • Clinical expertise

  • Ability to conduct thorough psychiatric evaluations
  • Ability to make informed treatment recommendations
  • Proficiency in electronic health record systems and documentation software

Responsibilities

  • Conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations
  • Making diagnoses
  • Crafting treatment recommendations
  • Ensuring meticulous documentation
  • Provide prescription and management of psychotropic medications in accordance with an active Prescriptive Authority Practice Agreement, with a physician available for consultation
  • Administer treatments
  • Provide direct therapeutic counseling
  • Respond effectively to client crises
  • Teach patients and families to follow prescribed medical regimens, considering their unique mental, cultural, and financial backgrounds
