About The Position

Welcome to Brightline! We are seeking a full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our care team. In this role, you will work alongside an outstanding multidisciplinary team of therapists, psychologists, coaches, and prescribers to deliver thoughtful, high-quality psychiatric care to children, adolescents, and their families. This role is hybrid: you will provide in-person care at least three days per week at our Albany, New York Clinic location. This is not a high-volume, assembly-line practice. We take time with our patients, use a structured three-part diagnostic series, and conduct 30-minute medication management visits that allow for real clinical relationship-building. You will report directly to the Medical Director, with support from the Chief Medical Officer. You will receive weekly individual supervision with the Medical Director as well as team-based group supervision — because we believe that clinician development and clinical quality go hand in hand. Brightline is a therapy and psychiatry practice that delivers expert pediatric, teen, and parental mental health care to families and kids up to age 18. Brightline’s virtual and in-person outpatient services include diagnostic evaluation, therapy, psychiatry services (e.g. medication management), and psychological testing (to assess learning differences, school readiness, executive functioning difficulties, and autism). In addition to Brightline’s generalized support, we offer focused programs to support anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders (OCD), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD), and disruptive behaviors. Founded in 2019, Brightline has delivered care to tens of thousands of families with industry-leading results. We’ve been nationally recognized for clinical excellence and innovation for several years — recent awards include the Fast Company 50 Most Innovative Companies (2022) and Behavioral Health Business Companies to Watch Award (2024). Brightline is based in Palo Alto and is backed by investors including Boston Children’s Hospital, Northwell Health, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts, Google Ventures, KKR, and Oak HC/FT.

  • Expertise in conducting comprehensive psychiatric evaluations for children and adolescents, including complex diagnostic presentations.
  • Working knowledge of evidence-based treatment approaches in pediatric psychiatry, including familiarity with ADHD, anxiety, mood disorders, ASD, and trauma.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive three-part diagnostic evaluations — including separate sessions with caregivers, the child or adolescent, and a feedback session — to ensure thorough, family-centered assessment.
  • Provide ongoing psychiatric medication management via 30-minute follow-up visits, using psychotherapy add-on codes to support quality therapeutic engagement beyond the medication check.
  • Complete thorough biopsychosocial intake evaluations, incorporating psychiatric history, medical history, psychosocial functioning, family systems, cultural context, and relevant environmental factors.
  • Conduct risk assessments related to suicidality, self-harm, harm to others, abuse, neglect, and safety concerns, and initiate appropriate clinical interventions when indicated.
  • Apply trauma-informed, equity-centered, and culturally responsive practices across all clinical interactions.
