About The Position

Sonora Behavioral Health Hospital provides short-term inpatient mental health and substance abuse treatment for children (ages 5-11), adolescents & teens (ages 12-17), and adults in crisis situations. Our multidisciplinary team consists of psychiatrists, medical practitioners, master’s level social workers, registered nurses, dietitians and behavioral health technicians. We specialize in providing treatment programs for those suffering from mental health and chemical dependence concerns. All patients receive comprehensive medical and psychological evaluations, medication management, regular contact with their psychiatric providers, daily group therapy and nursing care. We are currently seeking a Full-Time, Inpatient Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our skilled and patient focused team.

Requirements

  • Board Certified Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner or Psychiatric Physician Assistant, from an accredited college or university
  • Licensed to practice in the state in which the facility operates.
  • DEA license.
  • No history of alcohol or drug misuse for a period of three years before employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of 1 year previous experience in behavioral health facility/clinic preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provision of medical services to patients.
  • Conducting assigned aspects of the medical care of patients as allowed by state license guidelines.
  • Medical management of patients at all levels of care provided by the clinic.
  • Conduct complete physicals and provides necessary education, referral and follow-up services to patients.
  • Prescribe medication as allowed by state regulation.
  • Diagnose and treat acute, episodic or chronic illness, independently or as part of a healthcare team.
  • Participate in the formulation of patient Master Treatment Plan.
  • Assess physical and psychiatric health of patient and formulate measures to meet patient needs.
  • Chart clinical observation (direct or through dictation), evaluations and treatment of patient in required time according to facility guidelines.
  • Communicate with physicians and other staff as necessary to provide quality care for patient within appropriate guidelines.
  • Encourage family involvement in patient care.
  • Respond to identified patient and family educational needs.
  • Support and follow legal requirements, hospital policy and procedures, medical staff bylaws and regulatory requirements.
  • Provide services that are in accordance with the state guidelines for Nurse Practitioners.
  • Provide on-call responsibilities on scheduled basis directed by medical staff.
  • Focus on health promotion and disease prevention.
  • Order, perform or interpret diagnostic tests such as lab work and x-rays.
  • Prescribe medication.
  • Demonstrate a positive, empathetic and professional attitude towards customers always.
  • Acknowledge and work to resolve complaints when patient needs are not met.
  • Recognize that patient safety is a top priority.
