The University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) is launching a new one-year postgraduate specialty training program for recent graduates of Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) programs. This program focuses on developing advanced skills in acute psychiatric care through 80% clinical training and 20% didactic learning. Fellows will work with patients experiencing serious mental illnesses, including psychotic disorders, mood disorders, and personality disorders, gaining hands-on experience within the Comprehensive Psychiatric Emergency Program (CPEP) team at Strong Memorial Hospital. Additional rotations in Inpatient Psychiatry and the Psychiatric Consult Liaison Service will enhance the learning experience. The program offers mentorship and supervision from experienced psychiatric providers in a supportive environment designed to foster professional and personal growth.
